In short: Caesa connects your phone to your own Blue Iris server. Your video, pictures, alerts and camera details travel between your phone and your server, and nowhere else. We never see them.
The Caesa app
Your Blue Iris server. Caesa connects to the server address you enter, with the Blue Iris user name and password you enter. The password is stored on your phone only, sealed in Android’s hardware-backed keystore. Everything Caesa shows (live video, recordings, alerts, pictures, camera names) comes straight from your server and is kept on your phone, in the app’s own storage, to make it fast. Deleting the app, or removing a server in Settings, deletes it.
Licence checks. To confirm your purchase or trial, Caesa contacts our licence server at check.caesa.cam about
once a month. It sends:
- a random install ID created by Caesa (not linked to your name, email, phone number or Google account), and
- Google Play’s signed proof that this is a genuine copy of Caesa and of your purchase (the Play Integrity and Google Play Billing services).
Our server checks that proof with Google and replies with a signed licence. We keep the install ID, the purchase reference Google gives us, and when the licence was last confirmed, for as long as the licence is active plus one year, to handle refunds and disputes. We don’t receive your name, email address, location, Blue Iris details or anything about your cameras.
Purchases. Payments are handled by Google Play under Google’s privacy policy. We don’t see your payment details.
Permissions. Caesa asks for notification permission (for alerts), and location only if you turn on Away mode (to tell when you leave or arrive home, on the phone itself; your location is never sent to us). Fingerprint or face unlock uses Android’s own screen lock; Caesa never sees your biometrics.
No tracking. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting services. “Share diagnostics” creates a report only when you tap it, and you choose who to send it to. It contains no passwords, tokens or addresses.
Caesa Bridge
Caesa Bridge runs on your own Blue Iris PC. It keeps the Blue Iris session of each person whose phone signs in to it,
a list of those phones (device model, a random install ID, a hashed sign-in token, and when they last connected), and
the time of the latest alert it sent. All of this stays on your PC, in C:\ProgramData\CaesaBridge. The Bridge stores
no passwords and doesn’t contact us, except that it checks each phone’s Caesa licence using a public key built into it:
that needs no connection to us.
This website
caesa.cam uses a self-hosted, cookie-free visitor counter (Umami) that records pages viewed, referring sites and browser type, without cookies and without storing your IP address. Our web server keeps standard access logs (including IP addresses) for up to 14 days for security. There are no third-party scripts, fonts or adverts.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because we hold only a random install ID, the easiest way is to email [email protected] from the phone’s Settings → About & help (which can include that ID). You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
