Home network

At home, Caesa can talk to Blue Iris directly on your network instead of going out to the internet and back through your reverse proxy. It’s quicker, and it keeps working when your internet connection is down.

Set it up

Settings → Servers & network → your server → Home network → enter Blue Iris’s address on your network, for example http://192.168.1.10:81, then Save.

That’s all. Whenever your phone is on Wi-Fi, Ethernet or a VPN, Caesa quietly checks whether that address answers as Blue Iris, and uses it if it does. Away from home it uses your internet address. It switches by itself as you come and go. The page shows which one it’s using right now.

Tips

  • Use the address Blue Iris’s web server listens on (Blue Iris → Settings → Web server), including the port.
  • A fixed address for the Blue Iris PC (a DHCP reservation in your router) stops it changing.
  • If you use a VPN to reach home, the home address works over the VPN too.
